Kevin Johnson says, "I spent most of childhood years in Pasadena, Maryland, which is near Annapolis, known for the US Naval Academy, and the Chesapeake Bay. After high school, I attended Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado from 1997 to 2002 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.
It was there that I discovered my love for the close knit community and slower pace afforded by rural Colorado towns. After working in the hospitality industry of Crested Butte through my college years and immediately after, I began a career in banking in Gunnison, in 2005 and rose to a position of Business Relationship Manager, which allowed me to utilize my education and experience to begin helping small business customers meet their financial needs. In this role, I relocated from Gunnison to Montrose in 2008. I am currently a Business Banker and Vice President for the Montrose branch of Timberline Bank where I can continue to help the businesses of Montrose with their financial needs in a way that is very customer focused and supportive of the local community I love.
In addition to my secular career, I am currently serving, in my sixth year on the Board of Directors for the Montrose Chamber of Commerce. I joined the board in 2012 and have served as Treasurer and as a past chairperson, having served as chairman of the board in 2014. I have two amazing children, Aden (age 7) and Owen (age 5) who light up my world and keep me quite busy as a father.
When I do find time, we also enjoy many different outdoor activities, which Western Colorado is very conducive to, from skiing and riding motocross to camping and 4 wheeling and any chance I get to work on improving my very modest golf game. In general I try to stay active and busy trying anything that is fun and enjoy getting together with family and friends. With that all being said, I am looking forward to a great year here at the Chamber, I am very excited for this organization and for Montrose for the bright future we are building together. Cheers!
